...because teaching is hard.
...because she is exhausted. ALL. THE. TIME.
...because seeing students cry is heart-breaking.
...because he saw a student wearing a uniform on the weekend.
...because the school budget isn't enough.
...because she spilled coffee on her new blouse...again.
...because we don't always agree with all of the policies, but have to follow them anyway.
...because there's no way to adopt all of the students.
...because he had to park in the mud again.
...because a fight broke out.
...because she spent all of her money on her classroom...and there's still 3 weeks before pay day.
...because someone used up all of the poster maker paper.
...because he hates having to yell.
...because we hate getting yelled at.
...because someone ate all the doughnuts.
...because she can't do everything.
...because being a teacher is time-consuming.
...because a student came to him in tears from being bullied.
...because there aren't enough chairs in the classroom.
...because she puts everything into her job, and not enough into her relationships.
...because we have to call parents.
...because his sub let his students run wild.
...because yet another student was added to the roster.
...because no one said her life would be her job.
...because the secretary left early.
...because the principal wants to see him in his office.
...because there's another meeting.
...because we're being audited.
...because there aren't enough hours in the day.
...because she realized no one in her class was even paying attention.
...because the class is either too long or not long enough.
...because he doesn't understand why his student loans are that much.
...because it rained the day of the outdoor activity on the lesson plan and students are disappointed.
...because she doesn't know how to meet all of those standards and expectations in one school year.
...because testing days aren't fun for anyone.
...because we want to see students succeed, but sometimes their parents don't care.
...because his blood pressure goes up when that one kid enters the room and he hates to admit it.
...because some expectations placed upon us are unrealistic.
...because asking oneself, "Am I a good teacher?" doesn't always give an assuring answer.
...because she wants to help a student, but the student won't let her.
...because the EEF card just got rejected at Hobby Lobby.
...because he keeps fighting for this student when everyone else wants to give up.
...because we meet a hierarchy of needs, not just standards.
...because she's getting observed by the principal tomorrow afternoon.
...because students have personalities, but don't always have the appropriate place to share them.
...because he feels like he's always getting criticized.
...because everything isn't enough.
...because students like some other teacher better.
...because administration likes some other teacher better.
...because it sometimes feels like we aren't doing all that we should be.
...because every time a student fails a test, he feels like a failure.
...because only Kindergarten through 3rd Grades get assistants.
...because she spends every day helping students...without anyone helping her.
...because teaching for the test feels wrong.
...because we hear the criticisms and agree, but feel as though our hands are tied.
...because his test scores were disappointing...again.
...because no actual planning gets done during a "planning period."
...because we didn't get to sit down today. Or use the bathroom.
...because she needs to make copies...on Monday morning.
...because there's really no such thing as a teacher's "lounge."
...because a student cussed him out.
...because there isn't any chocolate left in the secret desk drawer.
...because she wants to make a difference and has no idea if she is.
...because teachers have a really hard job.
...because we love our students.
